Dunbar steps up drive to recruit network IFAs

Allied Dunbar is appointing a new sales director of its franchise network

as part of its bid to woo network members to its franchise operation.

Andy Ferns is taking over from chief executive Keith Baldwin, who has also

been sales director for 10 years.

Dunbar says it is still on a recruitment drive to attract network members

and sole traders to its network and the appointment of Ferns is part of its

business-to-business approach to suppor-ting IFAs, which it claims is

better than the services offered by networks.

Spokeswoman Sandra Paul says: “IFA networks will say they offer

administrative and regulatory support to IFAs. Our franchise service is

much more enhanced.”

Ferns is being promoted from his role as area sales director of the North

of England region. He started at Dunbar in 1989 as a financial adviser

before becoming its first regional sales director.

Dunbar says Baldwin will focus on working with the PIA and the Government.

Ferns says: “This is an unsettling time for industry professionals, with

many advisers leaving the sector because of increasing regulation and

increasing costs for compliance. But there has never been a better time for

financial services and my objectives will include ensuring franchisees get

expert business support and services to grow their own businesses.”
