Divorce &#39best way out of Equitable&#39

Getting divorced could be the only escape route for Equitable Life annuitants, according to The Annuity Bureau.

The specialist IFA claims by using divorce legislation which came into force in December last year, it is theoretically possible that a with profits annuity holder&#39s pension could be transferred from Equitable.

This is because pensions sharing legislation allows a percentage of one person&#39s pension fund to be transferred to a spouse, effectively providing two separate funds.

Head of marketing David Marlow says: “It is a sad fact for Equitable Life annuitants but for those in the process of divorce this could be their only opportunity to leave and improve their future growth potential.”
