Through 2005 the service catered for 4,500 customers a month and 819 directly authorised businesses now make use of it.
In every business where Express Underwriting has been deployed more customers have bought protection and adviser earnings have improved.
The service works by supporting traditional and nontraditional pure protection distributors by allowing them to outsource the collection of all medical and family history questions to a highly trained and dedicated unit.
It sits across the nine most popular life insurance companies in the UK reducing application forms from 20 or 30 pages to one.
The service also eliminates the risk of advisers being implicated in any non-disclosure complaint and subsequent settlement.
It has allowed DLP to forge partnerships with the likes of the AA. More th>n, Goldfish and British Gas Financial Services.
The judges were impressed by the creation of point of advice software used with the service, called Intelligent Protection, which has lead to a 30 per cent increase in adviser commission for family and personal protection sales.
It is designed for advisers to use in consultation with customers to arrive at a model protection recommendation that can be adjusted to suit individual personal circumstances and budgets.
The system also delivers model suitability text tailored to the customer’s requirements and priorities in one form. DLP is striving forward with a unique market proposition which has already borne fruit in terms of adviser remuneration and is a worthy winner of the award for distribution innovation.
