Derbyshire BS to rebrand and expand IFA arm

Derbyshire Building Society is relaunching its IFA arm, changing its name from Ilkeston IFS to Derbyshire Independent Financial Services.

The rebranding, which takes effect immediately, has been planned since the society bought Ilkeston Building Society in November.

DIFS will continue to be a generally focused IFA, offering advice on everything from pensions and investments to IHT planning, income drawdown and advice on trusts.

Previously based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, the IFA will move to the society&#39s head office in Duffield.

DIFS has six RIs and plans to expand to 10 advisers over the next year to 18 months.

It will continue to run joint ventures with accountancy and solicitor firms based in the Midlands and says it is looking to develop this business further.

Derbyshire BS operations and partnerships director Robert Pepper says: “This is an exciting move for the society. The IFA is already a successful business with an established client base but now, backed by the Derbyshire, will prove to be an even greater presence in the marketplace.”

“This initiative means that we can offer members an even better and more comprehensive service in the financial marketplace. It also complements but does not compete with our existing provision of insurance products through our relationship with Norwich Union.”
