Death of popular ScotProv stalwart Phil Alibone

Former Scottish Provident national account director Phil Alibone has died.

Tributes have poured in financial industry figures for Mr Alibone, who was diagnosed with liver cancer only two weeks ago.

He worked for ScotProv for 40 years at offices all over the country and retired in 2000.

Bright Grey head of sales Kevin Stevens says: “Phil was a massive character. Whenever you speak to people about him they smile. He was a champion of the people, a real hero. When he retired, there was almost a roadshow. He had a retirement party in almost every city in the country and they were all packed. He was popular, funny, honest and straightforward.”

Sesame research manager Dale Tranter says: “Phil was a really good bloke and one of the best national account managers I have dealt with. He was really professional but at the same time was one of the lads. Phil was ScotProv through and through. This is really sad news.”
