What Investment editor Keiron Root has died at the age of 47 after a suspected heart attack.
Root, who was editor of the magazine for over 20 years, was a well respected figure in the financial services and investment world, recently winning the Association of Investment Companies award for financial consumer journalist of the year, his third win in five years.
Outside financial services, Root was known for his love of amateur dramatics as a long-standing member of Leigh Operatic Drama Society and a founding member of Southend Old Boys’ Arts Society.
He was also a keen cricketer and connoisseur of English real ale and vintage port.
What Investment publisher Darren Griffin says: “Keiron will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his colleagues .”
Financial Mail on Sunday personal finance editor Jeff Prestridge says: “Keiron was someone I always had the utmost respect for and whose company I enjoyed thoroughly. Why? Because he loved life, he loved people, he loved work and he loved the good things in life. And of course he was a prolific and highly regar- ded journalist.”
