Death of Dennis Gamester &#39the original pension guru&#39

The original pension guru Dennis Gamester has died at the age of 57.

Gamester worked for Hambro Life and Schroder Life before joining Skandia in May 1989 as pensions director.

He later joined Scottish Mutual as technical development director, leaving the firm to work as an independent pension consultant.

Gamester was probably best known by IFAs for his work at pension roadshows working as a double act with John Carr and later Ron Spill.

Syndaxi Financial Plan-ning director Robert Reid says: “I will miss his sideways look at legislation but most of all I will miss him as a dear friend.”

Scottish Life head of pensions strategy Steve Bee says: “People like Dennis Gamester inspired me to do what I am doing today. He was the original pension guru and as far as many IFAs are concerned, he put Scott-ish Life on the map.”

Cicero Consulting direc-tor Iain Anderson says: “He was an innovative thinker who was instrumental in driving through policy in the 1990s. This is tragic news.”
