SimplyBiz chairman Ken Davy has been honoured as an ambassador for Huddersfield.
He was picked out as one of 25 prominent personalities from the Yorkshire town, who have been chosen to help raise Huddersfield’s profile around the world.
Other ambassadors include actor Patrick Stewart, author Joanne Harris and founder of the internet service provider Freeserve Ajaz Ahmed.
Davy is chairman of the town’s football and rugby clubs, Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants.
The ambassadors were picked from a panel made up of representatives from the University of Huddersfield, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Creative Industries Development Agency and Kirklees Council. Davy says: “They appear to have selected the town’s favourite sons and daughters. I am very proud to be a Yorkshireman and very proud to live in Huddersfield despite it not being the place of my birth.
“We are a not insignificant employer in the town plus there is the success of the football club, the Superleague club and one of the best stadiums in the north. Huddersfield is seen as a renaissance town and I am very proud to be given this honour.”
