David Barron joins Miton as investment trust and product strategy director

Former JP Morgan Asset Management head of investment trusts David Barron has joined Miton Group to help lead its product strategy.

Barron joined Miton today as the firm’s director of investment trusts and product strategy and will work with its fund managers, board and Ian Chimes, co-founder of PSigma Asset Management, which was bought by Miton earlier this year, to work on fund and investment approach development.

Miton executive chairman Ian Dighé says: “With a growing recognition of the distinctiveness of our strategies, Miton is currently scaling up our resource to address the growing range of customers.

“We are delighted that our clients and board will benefit from David’s considerable reputation and success at a time when the status quo in closed end funds is under both growing challenge and increasing opportunity.

Prior to working at JPMAM, where he left earlier this year, Barron worked at Fleming Investment Management. He has over 30 years of experience in the City, 18 of which have been focused on asset management.

Barron says: “With its distinctive investment capabilities Miton has the opportunity to develop and manage attractive open and closed ended funds for its clients. I look forward to working with the boards and their shareholders in building on this success.”
