Dampier goes to top of Presswatch table

Hargreaves Lansdown head of research Mark Dampier has taken the accolades as Presswatch&#39s top press pundit for February, beating last month&#39s winner London & Country&#39s mortgage adviser David Hollingworth to the top spot.

Dampier gets 38 mentions, beating Hollingworth with 36 mentions and Charcol senior technical manager Ray Boulger with 27 mentions.

Hargreaves&#39 domination of the overall IFA coverage continued last month with pensions research manager Tom McPhail and investment manager Ben Yearsley joining Dampier in the top 15, bringing the company&#39s total press mentions from 60 in February to 68.

Chartwell Investment Management director Patrick Connolly takes fourth place with 26 mentions and Chase de Vere Anna Bowes is fifth with 25 mentions.

In the main company table, HBOS claims top spot, with last month&#39s number one and perennial favourite Nationwide falling to sixth place.

Abbey National storms into second place from 10th in January and Northern Rock jumps to third from sixth in February.

Britannia Building Soc-iety leaps 17 places to fourth from 21st in January and Safeway moves up one place to fifth.

At the other end of the table, Scottish Mutual takes the bottom and 506th spot, closely followed by Aberdeen Asset Management and Britannic in 505th and 504th respectively.

Dampier says: “We were last year&#39s overall Presswatch winner. We do take our press contact seriously and I think this hard work shows in these results.

“Our new mortgage supremo will be Ian Jordan so we will be able to knock Hollingworth right off the top of that table.”
