Coventry wins broker acclaim

Coventry Building Society has been praised by mortgage brokers for being intermediary-friendly.

This comes as brokers continue to hit out at lenders which are undercutting the intermediary market by offering cheaper rates through their direct channels.

Brokers say while most lenders have been withdrawing products with only a couple of hours notice, Coventry has made a commitment to give 48 hours’ notice of any changes. It also offers the same deals through brokers as it does direct.

Personal Touch Financial Services sales director Dev Malle says Coventry stands out in the current market.

He says: “Coventry is one lender that has been particularly good to the intermediary market. Those lenders that are clearly the friend of the intermediary market should not be forgotten and we need to praise these lenders as much as we try to shame those that are undercutting brokers.”

Bryan Mortgages principal Patrick Bryan says: “Coventry’s representatives have been very proactive and they have made a point that they will not be dual-pricing. There is nobody else I would single out for any praise at the moment.”
