Coulson buys into mortgage broker

Former Zurich Advice Network director Richard Coulson is understood to have bought into broker Enterprise Mortgage Specialists with former Zurich colleagues.

Coulson is now listed with the FSA as director of the Stanmore-based broker along with former Zurich ally Keith Baldwin, who is listed as director as well as chief executive.

Baldwin is best remembered as ZAN distribution chief executive and for his outspoken comments in support of depolarisation and of a confidence crisis in the independent sector in February 2002.

Joining Coulson and Baldwin are ex-ZAN colleagues Paul Adleman, who is responsible for risk assessment, and Gerard O’Brien, who is listed as a director. Howard Wallis also joins the team as a director.

The team officially took over their positions on April 11. Coulson is yet to reveal his plans for the business but is believed to be planning to create a mortgage network.

Coulson revealed exclusively to Money Marketing last week that he was not satisfied with the role which was given to him within the new Openwork structure and he would like to set up a mortgage network from scratch.

Enterprise Mortgage Specialists is a phone-based mortgage firm offering fee-based advice. Its current schemes include adverse credit, self-certification, income stretches, buy to let, remortgaging and secured second-charge loans. Enterprise Mort- gage Specialists’ packaging firm Enterprise Homeloans is tied to ZAN.

Enterprise Mortgage Specialists has denied that Coulson is connected despite the FSA registration. Coulson was unavailable for comment.
