With increasing student numbers demand for accommodation is struggling to be met with less than 25 per cent being met by university maintained properties.
The fund will target returns of between 8 and 10 per cent, offering an income strategy, and is expected to raise £100 million in the first year. It will primarily invest in established UK schemes and providers although it will have the scope to invest in other parts of Western Europe.
The fund will be managed by Robert MacDonnell, Lawrence Frampton and John Kennedy who previously helped to market the first student accommodation fund from Brandeaux. Strutt & Parker Financial Services will provide the overall strategy for the allocation and selection of individual student accommodation funds.
