Cook leaves NS&I

National Savings and Investments has announced the departure of chief executive Alan Cook CBE who is to join the Post Office as managing director in February.
Current deputy chief executive and finance director Trevor Bayley will become acting chief executive for the interim period.
Bayley joined NS&I as finance director in June 2001 becoming deputy chief executive in 2002. Previously he was Britannia Building Society finance and corporate development director.
Cook joined NS&I from Prudential in October 2002 and was credited with instigating a major modernisation and growth strategy.
NS&I chairman Paul Spencer says: “Alan has been a great chief executive during his time with NS&I and I would like to thank him for a fantastic job he has done at raising the performance and ambition within the business. He has undoubtedly been a major force in making NS&I a success story.”
