Conner: &#39Note worthy&#39

Abbey National, the UK&#39s second-biggest mortgage lender, has signed an agreement to become the official bank in a regional version of the Monopoly board game.

Abbey&#39s logo is set to appear on the boards and banknotes used in 13 regional editions of Monopoly – based on towns, cities and regions across the UK – after securing the deal for an undisclosed sum.

As part of the deal, Abbey will be supporting Monopoly events throughout the country including regional championship qualifiers and several charity fund-raisers.

The deal coincides with this week&#39s launch of the new Essex Monopoly game at Colchester Castle and will be followed over the coming weeks by launches in Cornwall, Oxford, Chester and Scotland.

Abbey director of retail marketing Janet Connor says: “We have helped millions of people buy their dream property so it is fitting that we should be the bank for Monopoly. We are delighted to associated with such a well-loved game.”

Winning Moves International product development director Mark Marriott says: “Abbey National was our natural choice to become the Monopoly bank because of its strong board and high-street presence. It is the perfect partnership.”
