Commission doubled on Unum group protection

Unum is doubling IFA commission on group income protection schemes to enc-

ourage more intermediaries into the market.

Commission on its group IP schemes will be increased to 24 per cent from

12 per cent until the end of the year.

Unum&#39s “market expansion bonus” is available on new business to employers

protecting between 20 and 200 lives who have not had income protection

cover in the last five years.

Unum is also running a series of national roadshows this month aimed at

providing advisers with the knowledge needed to tap into the market, which

Unum says is grossly under-penetrated at only 11 per cent.

Director of marketing Eugene McCormack says Unum is looking at ways for

IFAs to highlight the issue of the disability of staff to employees,

opening a market which can offer a new income stream.
