Comment of the week: A cesspit of mixed messages

Like others, I feel the RDR implementation is a shambles and the industry will grind to a halt after December.

We are already seeing early signs of this from new enquiries.

Clients are terrified of costs and under the impression from the communications they receive from the media at large and the regulator’s press announcements that the clock starts the minute they deal with an IFA, and then it costs hundreds of pounds an hour.

Even existing clients are getting updates from providers and the big picture is a cesspit of mixed messages. If the intentions of the RDR were more consumer control and clarity, the results so far are precisely the opposite.
