Cofunds director of fund manager relations Russell Lancaster says that following the launch of BNP Paribas privalto stabiliser fund, he expects other providers to follow suit and launch structured products within Oiecs.
Lancaster admits that IFA confidence in structured products has been dented by uncertainty surrounding Lehman-backed products, but he believes that with education, IFAs may be reassured over the safety of certain guarantees.
Russell Lancaster says: “This is the beginning of a lot of products that we will start to see come on to the platform talking about guaranteed capital protection. These products work quite well within platforms.
“Paribas have taken the market a little bit by surprise with the speed at which they have launched to the market and I think there will be others.”
