CML elects NatWest&#39s Wise as chairman

NatWest Mortgage Service managing director George Wise has been elected chairman of the Council of Mortgage Lenders.


Following the executive board&#39s annual election he succeeds head of Midland Mortgages John Massey who served as chairman from January 1998.


Wise has been with NatWest for almost 40 years and became managing director of the mortgage arm in February 1995. He joined the CML executive committee in March 1995 and served as deputy chairman in last year.


Halifax deputy chief executive Gren Folwell and Nationwide Building Society marketing & commercial director Philip Williamson have both been elected deputy chairmen.
