Closure of life arm sees 1,200 jobs axed at R&SA

Royal & Sun Alliance is axing 1,200 jobs and closing its offices in Bristol as it restructures the business following the announcement of its closure to new life and pensions business.

It will continue to administer its existing life and pensions book from its Liverpool and Horsham offices.

Royal & Sun Alliance UK life and pensions managing director Stephan Pater says: “I would like to thank all our people and the intermediaries who have contributed to our success in recent years in changing ourselves into an efficient, customer focused business and to emphasise our commitment to managing the necessary changes in a fair and professional manner.”
