City Financial has hired Morningstar OBSR senior investment research analyst Anthony McDonald for its multi asset team.
As senior investment analyst at City Financial, McDonald will be involved in the management of the firm’s multi asset funds as well as working on the upcoming launch of City Financial’s web-based research service Adviser Centre.
The Adviser Centre is an independent fund research service for advisers, including recommendations of funds and a positive watch fund list. The service will launch in the spring.
Prior to his work at Morningstar OBSR, McDonald was at ABN Amro Asset Management and Forsyth Partners.
McDonald joins former Morningstar colleagues Peter Toogood and Gill Hutchison, who joined City Financial in October. Toogood went from investment services director at Morningstar to become investment director at City Financial, while Hutchison went from being head of investment consultancy to head of investment research.
On McDonald’s appointment, Hutchison says: “Anthony is highly regarded for his investment research abilities and consultancy experience and as such will be an invaluable addition to the multi asset team as we continue to develop the proposition.”
Chelsea Financial Services managing director Darius McDermott says: “We do not use multi managers at our firm but City Financial does have some good people. It has been adding to its workforce and raising its visibility.
“Performance and more assets are the important things at the end of the day. It is a very busy marketplace and this would help them stand out.”
