CIS renews backing for Northern Ireland cup

CIS is set to sponsor the Northern Ireland Football League Cup again this year after a successful first season which saw the introduction of a new regionalised format and raised the profile of the competition.

The cup, which is the equivalent of the Worthington Cup in England and the CIS Insurance Cup in Scotland, is played between the 20 semi-professional premier and first division clubs in Northern Ireland.

Sponsorship money is awarded to teams according to how far they continue in the competition.

Reigning champions Linfield manager David Jeffrey says: “I liked the new set-up. The involvement of CIS has brought a new vitality to the competition. They demonstrated a steely determination to get things right and were truly professional in the manner in which they went about promoting it.”

CIS general manager (marketing) Martin Clarke says: “The league cup is a superb addition to our sponsorship portfolio. CIS values its business and customers in Northern Ireland and we are very pleased to be involved in this prestigious competition.”

Reforming India: just the beginning

By Kunal Desai, Neptune India Fund

As global investors continue to scour emerging markets through the lens of reform potential, India shines bright. Indeed, we think it can sparkle even brighter. We anticipate India’s self-imposed 10-year ‘policy holiday’ to turn into one of the most pro-growth and pro-investment policy calendars seen in Asia in years. The Indian electorate has engineered a historic verdict. We now have the strongest Indian government since 1984, with the pro-market Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieving an absolute majority for the first time in the party’s history.
