CIS calls for non-exec directors&#39 roles to be strengthened

CIS is calling for the role of non-executive directors to be strengthened to increase transparency and provide clearer lines of accountability in companies.

Responding to the Derek Higgs review, CIS chief investment manager Chris Hirst says non-executive directors should provide an important link between investors and company management.

He says: “CIS values the role of NEDs, particularly in representing the interests of shareholders and providing important checks and balances on the performance of company management.”
