CII report warns climate change will hit insurance market

A report published by the CII is warning UK insurers to take account of man-made climate change.

The report, headed by Dr Andrew Dlugolecki, concludes that the consensus of scientific opinion is that man-made climate change is a reality, a view that is shared by a majority of CII members, a survey shows.

Of 896 respondents in the worldwide survey, 81 per cent felt changes in weather patterns had contributed to more insured losses, while 74 per cent felt the changing market will have a significant effect on the insurance market in the next 20 years.
