CII launches Thinkpiece

The CII Group has launched a series of three opinion papers, Thinkpiece, covering different aspects of the financial services sector.

The first paper is a warning from Dr Ros Altmann that the Government’s proposed Money Guidance service might not be suitable for giving retirement savings advice and might actually pose dangers for personal accounts.

The second is by Hugh James head of business litigation Hugh Price on the new rules being proposed for further streamlining of the case tracks and claims process.

Mick McAteer, consumer advocate and director of the Financial Inclusion Centre, wrote the third paper on the failure of consumers to make necessary provision for increasingly longer old age. He also explores what the insurance industry must do if it wants to benefit from any product opportunities.

CII director of policy and public affairs David Thomson says: “Thinkpieces will provide an excellent platform for members and external stakeholders to debate controversial issues of the day, and at the heart of these debates will be issues of public interest and concern.”
