The CII says it builds on the certificate in financial administration by enabling back-office staff to develop their understanding of specific products, sectors and the financial advice process in more depth.
CII financial services director Steve Jenkins says: “The whole of the financial services sector is embarked on the journey to greater professionalism. It is what the regulator wants and it is what customers want.
“The certificate in life and pensions ensures that another key part of the market, those working in life and pensions businesses, have a targeted qualification that will help them develop their careers to their full potential in a competitive, professional environment.”
Aegon HR director Sandy Begbie says: “We recognise that everyone has an essential contribution to make to the quality of service and overall customer experience.
“Customers want to deal with knowledgeable people, and the certificate in life and pensions will raise standards of knowledge and capability, providing operational staff with a career pathway beyond the certificate in financial administration. It is a very welcome addition to the CII qualifications framework.”
