CII chief exec Sandy Scott to stand down

Chartered Insurance Institute chief executive Sandy Scott is to stand down in March 2016 after 16 years with the organisation.

The CII says: “The successful implementation of chartered status, the creation of the Aldermanbury Declaration and an almost doubling of membership is testament to the impact he has had.”

Scott says: “The CII today is unrecognisable to the organisation I joined in September 2000.

“When I first started no one discussed professionalism. I am delighted to say that through the efforts of my staff and our supporters and advocates we can now claim to be well on the way to becoming a genuine profession. An achievement we should all be proud of.”

The organisation is revamping its courses for advisers in advance of the pension freedoms, and has revealed proposals to tighten its requirements for firms with chartered status.
