The Christows managed growth fund is a fund of funds that is
designed to outperform the FTSE All Share Index by investing mainly
in exchange traded funds (ETFs).

Looking at the managed growth fund alongside the two other funds in
this range, Barry Laymond Financial Services senior practitioner
Barry Laymond says: “These funds are the first to be approved under
the European legislation Ucits 3, where funds are categorised as
flexible investment funds. It is expected that all new funds and
existing funds will apply for re-approval in due course.”

He thinks this product is good for clients, as there is flexibility of
investment, with the ability to hold cash so the management team
does not have their arms tied within normal fund constraints.
Laymond explains: “Some funds, by their construction, have to stay
fully invested which may not be in the client&#39s best interests.”

Laymond compliments Christows on its &#39excellent brochure&#39 and
says: “I cannot be critical as Christows appears to have made sure
nothing adverse exists.”

Considering which funds are likely to provide the main competition,
Laymond concludes: “This product is unique and there are no direct
competitors. The nearest would be to compare the managed growth
fund to the active managed sector.”
