Charity gives advice on making a will

Epilepsy Action has designed a booklet aimed at helping sufferers of the condition draw up a will.

The 16-page booklet includes a brief introduction to inheritance tax and an explanation of some relevant legal terms. It also highlights the importance of legacies in funding the charity&#39s work.

It includes a foreword by actor Kevin Whately, known for his role as Sergeant Lewis in Inspector Morse.

Copies of Your Legacy are available free through Epilepsy Action&#39s freefone helpline or via its website.

The charity is the biggest UK member-led organisation working to combat the effects of epilepsy. It relies entirely on public contributions and hopes the guide will motivate people to make donations via their will.

Fund-raising manager Paul Tranter says: “Over a third of our work is funded by legacies and we depend on them to provide vital information and support for people with epilepsy and their families. We hope that the guide encourages people to consider making a will and to think about helping Epilepsy Action.”
