CGT cuts &#39make UK regime more favourable to enterprise than US&#39 – Brown

Chancellor Gordon Brown has announced a cut in capital gains tax in his Pre-Budget speech in the Commons. The new rate of CGT will be 20 per cent for business assets held for 1 year and 10 per cent for those held for 2 years or more.

The Chancellor said three quarters of CGT payers will pay less and this will make the UK CGT regime more favourable than that of the US.
