Certificate aims at PPI standards

Specialist training firm ontraining has launched what it believes is the first nationally accredited qualification for payment protection insurance sales.

The certificate in compliant sales is accredited by NCFE and has been developed with regulatory consultancy Ecompli.

Blackburn-based ontraining says the certificate requires a one-day training programme covering the FSA compliance framework, product knowledge and the advisory process. The course costs £150 a head.

Director Ian Bowden says take-up of the training has primarily been from mortgage brokers but it is also being aimed at big institutions.

Bowden says: “The sale of PPI has become a virtual no-go area for some firms but the course has been designed to enable people to continue to sell the product but in a compliant fashion.”
