CC deepens inquiry into IBS OPENSystems/Capita Group acquisition

The Competition Commission has today published an issues statement as part of its inquiry into the completed acquisition of IBS OPENSystems by Capita Group.

In its inquiry, the CC has been asked to decide whether the merger has resulted or may be expected to result in a lessening of competition within the market, and if so, suggest appropriate remedies for the takeover.

The CC has stressed that “the issues statement should not be seen as implying that the inquiry group has identified any competition concerns, the Group has yet to reach any conclusions on this inquiry”.

All interested parties are now invited to send their comments to the CC about the acquisition by January 12, 2009.

The statutory deadline for publication of the CC’s report is May 5, 2009.
