CBI concerned over FTSE ethical index

The Confederation of British Industry has given a mixed response to the launch of the FTSE4Good index.

CBI deputy director general John Cridland says: “We are seriously concerned about how this index will be perceived by the media, the general public and companies themselves. There’s a danger that firms included might be seen as ‘good’ and those left off as ‘bad’.”

But the CBI was satisfied that FTSE4Good had responded to its concerns and clarified the criteria for selection.
