CBI and BSA directors named in honours list

Confederation of British Industry director general Richard Lambert and Building Societies Association director general Adrian Coles are among several names from the financial services industry to be named in this year’s new year honours list.

Lambert (pictured) was knighted in recognition for his services to business, while Coles was awarded an OBE – officer of the order of the British Empire – for services to the financial services industry.

Those awarded CBEs – commanders of the order of the British Empire – include Treasury head of the financial stability team Kirstin Baker and City stalwart Phillip Remnant.

Remnant was recognised for services to the financial services industry and the public sector. He was appointed last year to the board of UK Financial Investments, which oversees the Government’s banking stakes, and has been a non-executive director at Northern Rock.

CBEs have also been awarded to Department for Work and Pensions deputy director of state pensions policy Evelyn Arnold; Towergate Partnership chairman Dr Peter Cullum; British Chambers of Commerce director general David Frost; and Citizens’ Advice chief executive Ronald Harker OBE.

An MBE – member of the order of the British Empire – has been given to The Pensions Advisory Service deputy chairman Anthony Hodgkiss in recognition of his public service work.

  1. A little birdie told me that Hector Sants was very cheesed off not to have realised his long held ambition of being awarded a knighthood. Ain’t life a bummer, eh Hector?
