Cavendish Asset Management chief executive Julian Lewis has written his first novel, a children’s fantasy story set in colonial India and modernday Scotland.
Lewis, who runs the firm’s 38m worldwide fund, will donate 75p for every book sold to the SOS Children charity.
It has received 6,500 pre-orders and the second book in the series is due out in 2008.
Lewis says: “The biggest test was probably getting the input of the strongest critics, schoolchildren, at the proof stage.
“I only hope the feedback is just as good come the book’s launch in June and the nation is not too distracted by Harry Potter.”
