Capita chairman stands down

Capita chairman Eric Walters will be standing down from January 1 of next year and will be replaced by Martin Bolland.

Walters joined Capita in 2000 and was appointed chairman in 2006. He has decided to stand down from the board. Bolland joined the board in 2008 and was appointed senior independent director and chairman of the audit committee later that year.

Executive director Paddy Doyle will become a non-executive director from March 1 next year. Doyle joined Capita in 1992 and was appointed to the board in 1994. In 2009 he moved to a part-time executive position continuing with client facing activities and remaining an active member of the board.

Capita will be recruiting to add further independent non-executive directors to the board.

Capita chief executive Paul Pindar says: “Both Eric and Paddy have made an immense contribution to Capita over the last 9 and 17 years respectively and have been instrumental in Capita’s success.

“Paddy has also been a great support to me personally and I am delighted that he will be continuing to support Capita as a Non-Executive Director. I would like to wish Eric all the very best for the future and thank him for all his support. I amalso delighted that Martin has agreed to take over as Chairman. Martin’s contribution so far to the Board has been invaluable and I am sure this will continue in his new role.”
