Canada Life offers aid on IHT

Canada Life has set up a dedicated technical team to help IFAs with estate planning and IHT mitigation.

The firm says that with IHT thresholds not rising in line with house prices, more and more homeowners are being hit with IHT bills so the number of IFAs having to deal with IHT planning has increased.

IFAs will be able to arrange face-to-face meetings with Canada Life specialist advisers on a one-to-one basis.

The new format will allow advisers to delve deeper into the technicalities of tax issues and financial planning that can be too complex to go into over the phone.

Canada Life’s expert team include a range of legal, tax or chartered financial planning specialists who are up to date with the post-Budget changes to IHT planning in relation to trusts.

Senior tax and estate planning consultant David Mor- ley says: “IFAs require more than just sales support from providers. The technical team offers IFAs advice regarding the issues and regulations that impact the products that Can-ada Life provides. We have structured our team in a way that we feel will best meet the needs of our clients, maintaining a regional network of adv-isers able to liaise directly with the IFA.”

By Simon Fletcher

As a chief executive officer of a business in the financial services sector, I have been dealing with the introduction of auto-enrolment for our clients for some time, but I can also speak from an employer’s point of view, having to go through the process ourselves.
