BWA launches IFA support service

IFA network BWA has launched a new support service for IFAs directly regulated by the PIA, BWA Link.

The service is designed to assist IFAs with training and competence, compliance and other regulatory issues leaving them free to develop their business.

It also offers mortgage code evaluation and implementation, advertising advisory services, pension advisory services, advice with recruitment, complaints and web sites.

BWA says IFAs can use the new service on a &#39pick and mix&#39 basis and it aims to tackle the problem of IFAs being bogged down in paperwork and having little time to service existing clients and develop new business.

BWA chief executive Malcolm Streatfield says: “What IFAs need is to spend less time worrying abut compliance and more time to develop their business.”

Boost to IFA sales of Unum protection plan

Unum says sales of its group income protection product sold primarilythrough IFAs has increased by 30 per cent to £12.7m in the first halfof this year from £9.7m in the same period last year. Overall saleswere up by 18 per cent to £34.5m from £29.2m.
