BVI signs tax agreements with China and Ireland

The British Virgin Islands has signed tax information exchange agreements (TIEAs) with China and Ireland.

The latest agreements bring the territory’s total TIEAs to 17.

In a joint statement yesterday, the BVI and Ireland stated that the agreement represents “a milestone in relations between the two governments and that both are committed to examining other areas of mutual co-operation and benefit”.

Following the agreement with China, BVI premier and minister of finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal said: “The BVI has now signed 17 TIEAs with economically significant parties, surpassing the international standard of 12 TIEAs set by the OECD and demonstrating the territory’s continuing commitment to best practice.”
