BVCA says over 1 million employed by venture capital-backed firms

Over 1 million people are employed by companies backed by investment from British venture capital, according to a survey by the British Venture Capital Association.


The survey finds that over the 4 years to 1998 the number of people employed in venture capital-backed companies increased by 24 per cent against a national growth rate of 1.3 per cent per year.


It also finds that over the same period sales rose by 48 per cent a year, pre-tax profits by 31 per cent, exports by 44 per cent and investment by 34 per cent.
