Burrows: will head annuity service

Annuity expert Billy Burrows is teaming up with actuary and pension

consultant Aspen to set up a specialist annuity IFA. William Burrows

Annuities will become part of Aspen&#39s fee-based subsidiary, Aspen

Individual Clients.

It will provide a mainly fee-based advisory service on all aspects of

annuities and income drawdown. Aspen says its decision to expand into the

retirement income market is driven by the growing importance of annuities

and drawdown. It also cites the Government&#39s encouragement of new and more

flexible annuity contracts.

Burrows was business development director at Prudential Annuities before

leaving in September 2000 to launch the Askannuity.com website. He will

become director of William Burrows Annuities.

Aspen managing director John Hough says: “The whole area of annuities and

pensions in payment is growing in importance, particularly as more

employer-sponsored pension arrangements are switching from the traditional

final-salary structure. We are keen to be at the forefront of giving advice

in this area.”
