Sanlam UK subsidiary Merchant Investors has today been rebranded Sanlam Investments and Pensions with IFA Buckles Investment Services due to become Sanlam Private Wealth in May.
Sanlam UK chief executive Lukas van der Walt says both arms will be given new funding to increase numbers and that the rebranding demonstrates the group’s commitment to the UK market.
He says: “Over a period of eight years Sanlam has acquired and invested in its subsidiaries and we now feel the time is right to leverage the strength of the Sanlam brand.”
Sanlam UK head of distribution Nigel Speirs (pictured) says: “We have extensive plans for new products and services and will continue to expand our partnering approach with intermediaries.”
In February, Speirs revealed that Buckles was to move to a restricted advice model after the RDR as it believes it will be commercially unviable to continue to operate as an IFA.
Principle Holdings Ltd, Sanlam’s discretionary investment management business operating under its trading name of Sanlam Fund Solutions will promote the newly branded firms along with Sanlam Distribution UK.
