Broker Talkback

Was 2006 a good year for your business?

Yes “It was a good year overall. Markets were positive. The tax side has been much harder so I guess that it has been a mixture. The Government U-turns are indicative of the way that we are going.”

Marcus Carlton, Columbus Financial Advisers

Yes “It was a good year. Life cover is climbing again and pension investment is starting to pick up. The confidence among people is growing and there is a lot of interest being generated in pensions. The property market is still growing.”

Robin Davies, Endeavour Financial Management

Yes “I gained the fellowship of the Personal Finance Society and, on the client side, we have improved our systems so we can provide a better service and do more business.”

Alan Moran, Interface Financial Planning Sharon Grubb, Smith & Williamson Pension Consultancy

Yes “It was a good year. Conditions were good for our clients with a solid market.”

Richard Barningham, RM Financial Advice

Yes “Clients are always happy when markets are performing well as they have been for much of the year.”

Rosemary Heaversedge, Shropshire Independent Financial Services

Yes “With all the pensions furore that happened, it was a very busy year indeed and, of course, all of our mortgage business was up far more than we expected as well.”

Roger Marx, Freedom Financial Planning

Yes “I have been mainly busy on the mortgages and protection side. Even with the disgusting change on pension term assurance, I did not have an awful lot of pipeline so we should not be too badly affected.”

Dominic Devivo, Charterhall
