Brits increasingly hostile towards the Euro

Britains are more hostile to the euro now than at its launch last year, according to Gallup poll for The Daily Telegraph.

It says three-quarters of the electorate believe the single currency is a failure and the pro-euro lobby would be outvoted 2-1 in a referendum on scrapping the pound.

Almost 70 per cent of those polled are opposed to British membership of the euro, and 31 per cent said their opinion of the EU had gone down over the past months.

But many fear their standard of living would fall if Britain left the EU entirely, and fewer than 20 per cent favour pulling out altogether.
