Aim: Growth linked to the performance of the FTSE 100 index

Minimum-maximum investment: £10,000 or £5,000 for existing customers-£1m

Term: Six years

Return: 20% of the original investment in year two if the index grows by at least 20%, 40% of the original investment in year four if the index grows by at least 40%, otherwise 130% of the growth in the index at the end of the tern

Guarantee: Original capital returned in full regardless of the performance of the index

Entrances and exits

Two arrivals into the competitive UK mortgage market have adopted diametrically different strategies. Edeus is a 100 per cent intermediary business and its USP is service rather than price, with a fee being charged for quicker service. Ing is a 100 per cent direct-to-consumer business and its USP is pricing, not necessarily in interest rates but in respect of fees, with an emphasis on no exit fee.
