Bright Grey knocks timing of LivVic’s Red Arc services

Bright Grey has hit out at Liverpool Victoria for only offering Red Arc’s care services on its critical-illness policies after a claim has been paid.

Red Arc offers counselling and personal nurses to Bright Grey policyholders at point of claim but Liverpool Victoria, which introduced the service to new and existing CI policyholders last week, only offers the service once the claim has been paid.

Bright Grey products director Roger Edwards says: “We felt the counselling services would be extremely useful at the early stage of a claim being made. There is a little bit of extra cost in doing it this way.”

Highclere Financial Services partner Alan Lakey says: “My concern is that once the claim has been paid, Red Arc services are too little, too late. It has either been ill thought through or Liverpool Victoria really wants to have a cheap shout but I suspect it is the former.”

Liverpool Victoria director of intermediary sales Stuart Tragheim says: “We will always keep these things under review. We took a commercial decision because we are making it free of charge to all existing policyholders, which is over 40,000 people.”
