Bowled over by success

Nearly 1,500 cricket clubs have benefited from Sun Life Financial of Canada&#39s sponsorship of an under-15 club championship. The knock-out competition has been running for the past few months and will culminate in four teams qualifying for the national semi-finals and finals in Basingstoke at the end of August.

Sun Life Financial of Canada has lent its support to the tournament for 16 years. It is administered by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

The final will be attended by celebrities such as England team captain Nasser Hussain and Channel 4 cricket commentators Barry Richards and Bill Frindall. Cricket umpire Barry Dudleston will adjudicate at the final.

Sponsorship and community relations adviser Sandy Pearcey says: “One of the company&#39s prime objectives via sponsorship is to encourage the participation of the young in healthy pursuits such as sport. If youngsters enjoy sport at an early age, it is likely they will enjoy it for life. We are delighted that some of the players who have competed in our championship have reached county and test level.”
