It is understood that BNP Paribas’ Investment Partners chief investment officer of emerging market fixed income Sergio Trigo Paz will head up the new emerging market debt team at BlackRock in London.

Paz oversaw the management of £3.8bn of assets in emerging market debt at BNP Paribas Investment Partners.

At present, Blackrock head of the emerging markets debt team Imran Hussain is supported by emerging market debt portfolio manager Daniel Shaykevich.

Portfolio managers at BNP Paribas Investment Partners Raphael Marechal, Chris Kelly, Laurent Develay, Michel Aubenas, Jane Yu will be joining BlackRock alongside former senior investment specialist Ernesto Bettoni. It is understood that all the managers will be joining in the summer.

BlackRock’s emerging markets debt team currently manages around £2.6bn in a range of Luxemburg-domiciled emerging market bond funds.
