Ex-Hargreaves Lansdown investment manager Ben Yearsley has joined Charles Stanley Direct as the group prepares to launch a direct to client platform to rival his former employer’s Vantage offering.
Yearsley joins Charles Stanley Direct as head of investment research with the firm planning to launch its D2C investment platform in the first quarter of 2013.
Yearsley will report to head of Charles Stanley Direct, Rob Hudson, himself a former Hargreaves Lansdown employee. Hudson joined Charles Stanley Direct from Chartwell Group in April 2011.
Yearsley left Hargreaves Lansdown by mutual consent in May 2012 after spending 15 years at the firm. He joined Hargreaves Lansdown in 1997 and was initially on the investment helpdesk. He joined Mark Dampier, now head of research, in the investment research team in 2000.
The Charles Stanley Direct platform will be powered by the Charles Stanley stockbroking platform, this includes Charles Stanley’s investment service FundChoice, the firm’s online share dealing, the Alpha and EBS Sipps and the Charles Stanley stocks and shares Isa. In January 2012, the firm announced it was to partner with retail aggregation service AllMyPlans for the D2C launch.
Yearsley says: “I am looking forward to this new challenge particularly as the D2C space only has a small number of existing platforms.”
Hudson says: “Ben’s appointment is a significant endorsement of the Charles Stanley Direct proposition and I look forward to working with him once again. Charles Stanley Direct’s aim is to be a step up from the current providers in the market whilst complementing the well‐established and respected Charles Stanley brand.”
