BDO Stoy Hayward IM buys Wolanski Checkley Fisher

BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management has purchased actuaries and pension specialist firm Wolanski Checkley Fisher.

WCF, bought for an undisclosed amount, will be integrated into its corporate pensions and benefit services division.

It has 30 professionals and staff who will join the current national total of 195 in BDO’s investment management business.

The acquisition hopes to enable BDO Stoy Hayward to further develop its pensions advisory service as well as its work in related areas such as employer covenant work.

BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management chief executive Richard Spilg says: “Our acquisition of the business of WCF is part of the ongoing expansion of BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management and we look forward to working with its experienced team to enhance the range of services provided to our mutual clients.

“Merging WCF with ourselves will add significantly to our advisory capabilities and build on the expertise of our actuarial team by adding an additional six qualified actuaries, whilst enabling us to take on larger assignments, particularly in the pension fund arena.”

Wolanski Checkley Fisher senior partner Hyman Wolanski says: “We are delighted to become part of BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management and feel that our strengths and expertise, specifically in actuarial advice to DB schemes, will complement BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management’s existing activities.”
